Volunteer Guidelines & Code of Conduct

Thank you for bringing your time, talent, and energy to this campaign. We are driven by a shared goal: to restore disciplined, common-sense leadership to Kamloops. Because our team represents the future governance of our city, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect.

As a member of this team, you agree to follow these core guidelines.

1. Lead with Respect and Decorum

Our campaign is the antidote to political drama. We do not engage in personal attacks, insults, or petty arguments—whether on a doorstep, over the phone, or online.

  • The Rule: Always treat residents, city staff, and opposing candidates with dignity. If a voter is frustrated or confrontational, we don’t argue. We listen with empathy, state our position clearly, and politely move on. We leave every interaction on a professional note.

2. Protect Voter Privacy and Trust

Residents will share their concerns, contact details, and political views with us in confidence. Protecting that data is a matter of absolute trust.

  • The Rule: Any data collected during canvassing, phone calls, or events belongs strictly to the campaign and must be handled via our approved systems. Never copy, share, or use a resident's personal information for any purpose outside of official campaign operations.

3. Maintain Digital Integrity

Your personal social media is your own, but when you engage on campaign pages or identify as a campaign volunteer, your digital footprint reflects our team.

  • The Rule: Do not engage with internet trolls, spread unverified rumours, or post aggressive comments on local news outlets (like Castanet, CFJC, or InfoNews). Let our message of strategic stewardship and clear logic speak for itself.

4. Stay Within Elections BC Boundaries

As a campaign, we strictly adhere to the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act.

  • The Rule: If a resident hands you a cash donation or asks complex financial questions on a doorstep, do not accept the funds directly. Politely direct them to our secure website (www.christophermitra.ca) or hand them a campaign card so they can contribute legally and provide their mandatory compliance data online.

5. Be Reliable and Accountable

We operate with the efficiency of a well-run business. We respect your time, and we ask that you respect the campaign's schedule.

  • The Rule: If you commit to a canvassing shift, an event role, or a phone block, please arrive on time. If your availability changes, simply let your campaign coordinator know as early as possible so we can adjust our logistics.

The Team Promise

In return for your dedication, this campaign promises to respect your time, provide the training and tools you need to succeed, and maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized environment for every volunteer.

No drama. Just intentional work to design a better Kamloops.
